Done in the studio from a reference photo taken on the Bruce Trail Ontario. I had taken the photo on a walk and thought it had nice composition of trees set vertical against a diagonal pattern behind from a river bank, I simplified the scene to focus on patterns, colour and negative space lighting .
This painting was later entered into a juried art show [ LOOK 2000 ] and took first prize, field of clovers 1 was also accepted into the group show too. I believe there were over 400 entries from south west Ontario and some parts of Michigan were also allowed to enter...Its encouraging to get such a nice response on something that I was still developing.
